3 men die after multi-vehicle crash in Isabela

Updated: May 5

Cauayan City, Isabela - Road accidents claim several lives every year.

Annually, over one million people die in the world due to traffic crashes, and at least 12,000 of those are from the Philippines.

The latest case of a tragic road accident in the country happened in Cauayan City, Isabela over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of three men.

These casualties were identified as Aurelio Cacot, Richard Cacot, and Eddie Martin. They were residents of San Mateo, Isabela.

Reports from Cauayan police obtained by local media disclosed that the victims were riding Honda Click 125 and Honda TMX motorcycles on April 28, 2024, when the incident transpired.

While they were traversing the road in Barangay Mintante 1, a Toyota Hilux pickup driven by Samuel Torribio, was described as having suddenly encroached the victims’ lane and crashed against the two motorcycles.

Samuel, when questioned by police, said he was fixing his seatbelt at that time and he did not notice that he ended up in the other lane, thus the collision.

Due to the force of the impact, the victims were thrown off their motorcycles and sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to a hospital by the responding medical team, but they were not able to make it.

Meanwhile, Samuel, the pick-up driver, is currently in police custody while trying to settle the matter with the victims’ families.
