3 sisters in Kalinga took and passed teachers licensure exam the same time

A farmer and a housewife from Balbalan, Kalinga have plenty of licensed professional teachers under their roof after their three daughters, including their daughter-in-law passed the October 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers at the same time.

Couple Corazon and George Gumaboy’s girls - Jorace, Marjolyn, and Janica along with their daughter-in-law Geraldine will simultaneously take their oath as full-fledged teachers this coming January 21, 2023 in Tuguegarao City.

Geraldine,31 and Janica,24 are Bachelor of Elementary Education graduates while Marjolyn,28 and Jorace,30 are education unit earners.

Reviewing and passing together

One of the sisters, Jorace told Guru Press Cordillera that they did not plan to take the LET together. However, they all decided to file their application for the exam after learning that the Table of Specifications for March 2023 LET will change due to the revised curriculum.

“Wala din po sa plan magsabay sabay na mag-take po. Dalawa sa amin po ang nag-plan talaga na mag-take but since sabi po kasi nila na last term na ng old curriculum last year kaya napadali … at naglakas loob po ako nagfile. At ‘yung youngest sis po namin pinilit lang din po namin siya,” she narrated.

Jorace recounted that the four of them helped each other in reviewing. One of their modes of reviewing is taking turns in asking and answering questions. She added that they also learned techniques and concepts from one another.

The four sisters encouraged each other too to keep going despite some challenges that came their way while getting ready for the board exam.

On December 16, 2022, the Gumaboy sisters’ names were included among the list of passers of the October 2022 LET.

As proud parents, Jorace shared that their elated mom and dad made them a tarpaulin which they hang in front of their house.

The Gumaboy family is from Buaya, Balbalan but they are currently residing in Conner, Apayao.
