Bangued, Abra – A total of 33 land titles were awarded to individuals and schools in Abra during the DENR Express held on April 14, 2026, at the Provincial Capitol in Bangued. The distribution was carried out through the Handog Titulo Program (HTP) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), providing beneficiaries with legal ownership and access to development opportunities.

The HTP is an initiative that facilitates the transfer of public land ownership to qualified individuals and institutions by issuing land titles or patents. It aims to speed up the land titling process, ensure legal ownership and security, and reduce land disputes.

According to DENR–Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Marcos Bias, as cited by PIA–CAR, a total of 24 agricultural patents and nine special patents were awarded. Special patents are granted to government agencies, such as school sites.

“We have 24 agricultural patents and nine special patents. Special patents are given to our government agencies like school sites. Schools that are awarded land titles become eligible for infrastructure projects. They can receive funding to improve their facilities,” he said.

Among the schools that received titles were Baac Elementary School, Dolores Central School, San Juan Central School, Manabo Pilot Elementary School, Mabungtot Elementary School in Langiden, Pidigan Central School, Cardona Primary School, and Supiil Elementary School.

In 2025, a total of 675 titles were issued across the Cordillera region. Among the beneficiaries were the Baguio City government, including the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), the municipality of Lamut in Ifugao, and Bokod, Benguet.

Meanwhile, in September 2024, 29 schools in Abra were also granted land titles under the same program, bringing the total number of schools with land patents in the province to 177. This provides more educational institutions with secure land tenure and better opportunities for long-term development.

The awarding of land titles in Abra is expected to strengthen land ownership security for beneficiaries and support community development by enabling access to government programs and infrastructure projects.
