39.-yr.-old man in Abra caught for indiscriminately firing unlicensed gun

Abra, Philippines – A 39-year-old man who indiscriminately fired his unlicensed gun in San Quintin, Abra, is now in police custody after he was reported to the authorities on Thursday, August 28, 2025.


The suspect, who was identified by the Abra police as a resident of Caloocan City, allegedly discharged his firearm in Sitio Mausoc. At the time, a concerned citizen, who saw the incident, called the police through the Emergency 911 hotline, prompting the personnel of San Quintin Municipal Police Station to rush to the area.

While they were on their way, the responding police came across a man riding a motorcycle who matched the descriptions provided by the concerned citizen who reported the incident. However, just before they could approach him, the man tried to evade the police and drove towards the rice field.


Arousing suspicions, the authorities followed the man and were able to corner him. They discovered he was carrying a Caliber .45 pistol, two magazines, and six ammunition. The suspect was further described as having failed to provide documents that allow him to carry the firearm.


The 39-year-old man was arrested and brought to the San Quintin MPS. He is expected to face a charge for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
