RIZAL, Kalinga — A 42-year-old man sustained injuries after the motorcycle he was driving figured in a self-inflicted accident along the Kalinga-Cagayan Road in Liwan West, Rizal, Kalinga, on Tuesday night, September 15.

According to a report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Rizal, the accident was reported at around 8:16 p.m. in front of a J&T Warehouse.

The victim, a resident of Liwan West, was conscious when responders arrived but was reported to be intoxicated. He sustained abrasions on his left cheek and left forearm.

The Rizal MDRRMO-Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Team Alpha immediately responded to the scene, conducted a primary assessment and provided initial medical management.

The victim was subsequently transported to the Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital (JMDMDH) for further evaluation and treatment.

The Rizal MDRRMO-EMS reminded motorists, particularly motorcycle riders, to avoid driving under the influence of liquor, which can impair judgment and reaction time and increase the risk of road accidents.

Motorists were also advised to observe appropriate speeds, wear standard protective helmets and remain alert for sudden obstacles and other road hazards.

Motorists are also urged to exercise extra caution when traveling at night, when visibility may be reduced, and to avoid driving when impaired or otherwise unfit to operate a vehicle.

For emergencies in Rizal, residents may contact the Rizal MDRRMO Operations Center at 0917-599-5809 or 0962-953-3421.
