44-yr.-old laborer drowns during picnic in Piat, Cagayan

Piat, Cagayan – Swimming while under the influence of alcohol did not turn out well for a 44-year-old man when he drowned at the Chico River on Sunday, Oct. 15.


The victim, identified as ‘alias’ Tomi, 44, was already dead when he was pulled out of the water a few hours after he drowned.

He is from Upper Bicutan, Taguig City, and worked as a construction worker in Piat.


Accordingly, the victim along with his workmates was at the river in Barangay Dugayung, Piat for a picnic when the incident transpired.


They decided to go for a swim, but moments later, the victim was said to have ended up in a deep part of the river without being noticed by his companions.


He was later searched by his companions but was found lifeless a few hours later.


The victim’s remains have already been brought to Taguig City by the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan (TFLC)-Tuao Station, according to a report by the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.
