5 individuals arrested in Kalinga on Valentine’s Day for transporting Marijuana

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Five individuals from Metro Manila and Pampanga who were ferrying suspected Marijuana were arrested by the Kalinga police on Valentine’s Day in Sitio Dinakan, Dangoy, Lubuagan.


According to the police, intel operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit spotted the suspects carrying bricks of suspected marijuana in Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan. They added that the five got on the bus going towards Tabuk City when they were in Bugnay.


With this, personnel of the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company manning the checkpoint in Sitio Dinakan were alerted.


The bus was then flagged down at the said checkpoint and it was then the police discovered the alleged contrabands from the five suspects who were identified as an 18-year-old student from Mabalacat, Pampanga; Andrei Punsalan, 21, student, and also a resident of Mabalacat; Ramil Dela Cruz, 21, a helper from Caloocan City; Alvin Medel, 24, also from Caloocan City; and Mark Joseph Vendiola, 23, a student from Manila City.

Seized items from the suspects include 17 bricks of alleged marijuana worth P1,803,360; 8 tubulars of the same illegal drugs worth 657,600; 2 small ashes of suspected marijuana cigarette worth P1,200; and 4 sachets of alleged marijuana cookies worth 43,200.


Five cellphones were also confiscated, including a black backpack.


All items were inventoried on-site in the presence of the suspects and witnesses.
