Baguio City, Philippines – The man the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) sought to locate relatives for has passed away.

The said individual, according to the hospital, hailed a cab to supposedly go home but he experienced difficulty in breathing along the way, prompting him to ask the driver to take him to the emergency room of a hospital instead.

The man, who is approximately 55 years old, around 5’2” tall, with dark complexion, was said to be wearing gray-blue slacks and chaleco vest when he arrived on Thursday evening, June 19.

The man was initially conscious and was able to identify himself as Jesus De Castro before falling unconscious. No additional information had been obtained at that time.

The hospital, through its Medical Social Work Department (MSWD), then released a public appeal and coordinated with local authorities to help reconnect the patient currently confined at their facility with his loved ones.

Through the cooperation of the community and the barangay officials of Irisan and Quezon Hill, the patient’s distant relative was reached and was able to confirm his identity.

While the man was being treated at the emergency room, Punong Barangay Arthur Diplat Carlos of Irisan deployed barangay officials to look after Castro.

Despite medical efforts, Castro passed away at 2:52 a.m. this Friday, June 20.

The MSWD extended gratitude to everyone who helped in sharing the call for assistance and responded to the appeal for public service.

“Through these continued acts of compassion and coordination, we hope that Mr. De Castro will be dignifiedly laid to rest in due time,” said the BGHMC’s department.
