Mountain Province, Philippines – A 57-year-old man died in Barlig, Mountain Province, following the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), authorities said on Monday, November 10, 2025.

After making landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora, at 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, Typhoon Uwan passed through Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, and other parts of Northern Luzon. By 2 a.m. the following day, Mountain Province, located near La Union, was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4, posing a significant to severe threat to life and property.

At around 3 a.m. that same day, a rain-induced mudslide struck the victim’s home in Barangay Latang, Barlig.

The man was later recovered with the help of community members. Unfortunately, he did not survive the injuries he sustained.

The fatality was identified as Marcial Alilis.

Meanwhile, his two sons, aged 22 and 24, who were with him at the time of the incident, were injured and are now receiving medical treatment at Barlig District Hospital.

Two other individuals—one in Bauko and another in Sadanga—were also reported injured due to the effects of Typhoon Uwan.

As of 3 p.m. today, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) recorded a total of 90 damaged houses: 41 in Sagada, 28 in Sadanga, and 21 in Besao. A total of 371 families (1,166 individuals) were displaced, of whom 124 families (412 individuals) are currently staying inside evacuation centers.
