59-yr.-old farmer gone missing in Bauko, Mt. Province; Search ongoing

Bauko, Mt. Province - A 59-year-old farmer in Bauko, Mt. Province, has been missing since September 22, the same day Super Typhoon Nando battered Northern Luzon.


According to the report of the Mountain Province Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MPDRRMO), Nicolas Laguiwed Ol-oling was last seen around 7:00 a.m. that day when he was dropped off by his son at his pasture in Sitio Loccong, Otucan Sur.


Ol-oling has since failed to return home, prompting his family to report to the authorities that he is missing. They reported the matter to at around 10:00 a.m. this September 23.

In their quick response, uniformed personnel, emergency responders, and community members launched a search and are now jointly conducting a wide rescue operation to locate him.


The rescuers, accordingly, are searching areas of Otucan Sur, Bauko; Lagan, Sabangan; and Gonogon, Bontoc, including a sweep along the Chico River, which the missing farmer might have crossed when he moved from his pasture.


As mentioned by the PDRRMO, Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. has appealed for unity and continued vigilance amid the ongoing search efforts while expressing gratitude to the responders as well as to the community volunteers, for their swift response and unwavering cooperation.


As of this writing, the old man has not yet been found, and search efforts continue.
