62-year-old pastor in Tabuk dies in a road crash in Barangay Ipil

Tabuk City, Kalinga — An hour after the death of a farmer whose motorcycle plunged into an irrigation canal in Barangay Ipil, Tabuk City on February 2, a 62-year-old pastor was killed in a road accident on the same date.

Tabuk Traffic Management Unit reported Pastor Benjamin Dao-gas of UCCP was declared dead by the attending physician at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital at 5:30 PM.

In the report, it said that Dao-gas was a backrider of a motorcycle driven by Pastor Paul Mostrales, 59. The two were travelling the Kalinga – Isabela National Road in Mapaoay and met the accident while they were on their way to Bulanao around 5:00 in the afternoon.

The driver of the motorcycle told the police that behind them was a Toyota Hilux who was heading in the same direction. However, the motorcycle’s rear portion was suddenly bumped by the Toyota Hilux driven by Ronald Corpuz, 47, a resident of Tuguegarao City.

The incident caused Mostrales to lose control of the motorcycle, falling off the road with Dao-gas that resulted in his fatal injury.

Dao-gas was rushed to KPH but he was declared dead, while Mostrales sustained slight abrasion on his hands.

The involved vehicles and Corpuz were brought to the custody of the Tabuk City Police Station.
