63-year-old man in Cagayan dies after tree falls over him

Sto. Nino, Cagayan – A 63-year-old in Sto. Nino, Cagayan died after a Caimito tree fell over him while he was on the way home during the typhoon Florita.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Officer-In-Charge Rueli Rapsing, through Cagayan Provincial Information Office, narrated that the victim with his relative Erenio Raguimin was on the mountain during the height of the typhoon on August 23, 2022.

Raguimin tried to stop the victim from leaving that day, but the latter insisted on going home in the afternoon despite the heavy rain and strong winds.

The next day morning, while Raguimin was clearing the place where he lives, he was shocked to find the lifeless body of the victim under the fallen tree.

The victim was identified as Rogelio Bernardino, a resident of Barangay Abariongan Ruar of the said municipality.

The MDRRMO and the police immediately responded after Raguimin reported the incident.

As of this writing, 1 casualty was reported in the province of Cagayan during the typhoon.
