63-yr.-old fisherman electrocuted by own device; body found in Isabela irrigation

Updated: Mar 14

Angadanan, Isabela – Fishing turned into a tragedy for a 63-year-old man when he was electrocuted by his own electric fishing device that took his life.

Police reported that the victim, identified as Dominador Abad, a resident of Cauayan City, Isabela, was found unconscious on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in an irrigation canal in Angadanan.

In his interview with the local media, Captain Roosevelt Perido of Barangay Villa Domingo relayed that Abad’s body was discovered by one of his barangay tanods around 10 a.m. on said day.

The matter was immediately reported to the authorities.

The responding medical team proceeded to the location and rushed Abad to a hospital in the municipality. Unfortunately, the victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The result of the investigation conducted by Cauayan police revealed that the victim might have slipped while fishing, thus he electrocuted himself.

The victim's family, meanwhile, relayed to the police that Abad told them he was to go fishing before he left their house. However, they did not expect that he would proceed all the way on said portion of the irrigation where he died since it was too far from their residence.
