BONTOC, Mountain Province – At least seven individuals were injured after an Isuzu Elf truck packed with an estimated 27 passengers plummeted into a steep ravine along the Talubin-Barlig Road in Sitio Jakap, Barangay Talubin on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Initial investigations revealed that the truck came from Isabela and was bound for Bakun, Benguet via the Paracelis road when the disaster struck around 12:00 p.m.

According to initial reports, upon reaching the area, the driver suddenly lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and plunge down a treacherous 50 to 100-meter-deep ravine.

The Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) stated that rescue teams immediately rushed to the crash site after the Emergency Operations Center was alerted of the accident at around 12:40 p.m.

As of 2:16 p.m., emergency responders have pulled out seven survivors, who were rushed to the Bontoc General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.Authorities and local rescue teams are currently conducting grueling operations to save the remaining victims trapped down the slope.

This is a developing story.
