85 Cordillerans qualify for DOST’s 2024 Junior Level Science Scholarship Program

Tabuk City, Kalinga—After passing the pen-and-paper qualifying examination for the 2024 Junior Level Science Scholarship Program, 85 students studying at different universities in the region will enjoy their scholarship benefits next year.

 

The DOST scholarship program is exclusive for third-year college students enrolled in priority Science and Technology Courses at accredited universities.

 

Said program will cover tuition fees, other school fees (P40, 000 per academic year) and book allowance of the recipients (P10,000 per Academic Year).  They shall also be provided with monthly stipend for two to three years (P8, 000) depending on the number of years needed to finish their courses.

 

Aside from these, scholars are also entitled to a P10,000 thesis allowance, a P1,000 graduation allowance, and a transportation allowance which equates to 1 economy class-round trip fare.

However, they are required to maintain a good academic standing in order to continue benefitting from the program.

 

The newly qualified recipients include 2 from Apayao, 1 from Ifugao, 2 from Kalinga, 13 from Benguet, and 67 from Baguio City. They are from the Apayao State College, Kalinga State University, Benguet State University, Saint Louis University, University of Baguio, and University of the Philippines – Baguio.

 

The qualifiers, as announced shall have their orientation on November 8, 2024, at the Paragon Hotel and Suites on Otek Street, Baguio City.

 

Who are qualified for the scholarship program?

 

For those wanting to apply for the scholarship, qualifications include being a second-year college student enrolled in priority courses and studying in accredited universities, a natural-born Filipino citizen, and someone who is of good moral character and health.

 

The Department of Science and Technology added they should have a general weighted average of at least 83 percent.

 

Meantime, the agency likewise announced that the E-application for the 2025 Undergraduate Scholarship is now open.
