Abra implements no physical classes from 10 AM to 3 PM across all educational levels

Bangued, Abra – As the province of Abra continues to suffer from extreme heat, it also continued its hybrid learning setup and observance of modified school hours from May 6-18, 2024.

The province has utilized said set-up since April 22 following an executive order by Governor Dominic Valera.

On Sunday, May 5, the governor issued anew an executive order continuing the implementation of said alternative mode of teaching and learning process.

With said order, private and public schools in Abra, at all levels of educational institutions, are mandated to observe the hybrid learning setup.

In said case, educational institutions are only allowed to hold face-to-face classes during the non-critical hours.

Meantime, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which is considered critical hours, alternative methods such as online classes, modular learning and other distance learning methods could be utilized by schools.

“Hybrid learning setups have been instrumental in ensuring continuity of education while minimizing health risks amid the ongoing heat wave in the country, providing a flexible approach to accommodate both in-person and remote learning,” the executive order reads.

To ensure that the learning method is effective, parents are enjoined by the provincial governor to ensure that their children observe punctuality and regular attendance during the prescribed school hours.

They are likewise told to collaborate with their children’s schools to address challenges that may arise while said mode of learning is being implemented.

As for the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education, they are mandated to monitor and evaluate the implementation of said order to ensure its effectiveness and address any challenges that may arise.
