Abra records over P5.6M loses to 13 fire incidents in Jan-Jun 2025

Bangued, Abra - A total of thirteen fire incidents were recorded across the province of Abra from January to June this year, incurring over P5.6 million in costs of damage. 

 

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Abra, 11 of the cases were structural fires, while 2 were forest fires. The worth of damages from these incidents reached P5,657,200. 

 

The leading causes of the fires were flames from cooking appliances and firewood, electrical arcing and overheating, and improperly discarded cigarette butts. Listing the highest number of cases was the capital town of Bangued.

 

Areas where the other incidents occurred were not disclosed by the agency. 

 

The residents are encouraged by the BFP-Abra to always check electrical systems and exercise care when using open flames or disposing of smoking materials to avoid fire incidents. 

 

In a positive turn, the BFP office reported a total of over P4.4 million in fire revenue collection for the first semester of the year. 

 

The revenue was generated from 5,667 fire safety inspection certificates (FSIC) and 40 fire safety evaluation clearances (FSEC) issued by the agency as of said period.
