‘Adda P5M fund para ti AKAP and P5M para ti MAIFP… genuine progress is possible when the local and national government work together’ - Kalinga Gov. Edduba

Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the culmination activity of the Handog ng Pangulo, Sarbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat at the Kalinga Astrodome, Governor James Edduba relayed the good news of his visit to Ilocos Norte saying he was able to request for funding to help the people in Kalinga.


In his talk he mentioned of the funding he requested which was granted by Congressman Sandro Marcos, “I want to thank the First Family through Congressman Sandro because nangted ti P5Million nga AKAP and P5Million nga MAIFIP para ti probinsiya ti Kalinga.”

AKAP is the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program - a one-time cash aid program spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) for near-poor Filipinos affected by inflation, while MAIFIP is Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients under the Department of Health (DOH), providing financial aid for medical expenses to patients who cannot afford them.


Speaking before iKalingas who availed different government services in a one stop shop caravan, also lauded the participating National Agencies and asserted that genuine progress is possible when the local and the national government work hand in hand.


On Saturday, September 13, Kalinga Province held the Handog ng Pangulo Caravan at the in celebration of the birthday of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., mobilizing the government to bring its services at a one place for people to avail the different programs and services being offered by the different national line agencies.


“We thank President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and our partner agencies especially DTI and DOLE for making this opportunity available to our people. This partnership reminds us that genuine progress is possible when the local and national government work together,” the governor said.


Among the highlights of the event is the MOA signing for shared services, facilities, and projects under the DTI, awarding of the Small Business Corporation to the MSMEs, awarding of the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program and TUPAD beneficiaries, and the job fair among others.


“This occasion highlights the national government’s dedication to inclusive and people centered development … These [activities] are strategic actions that empower families, strengthen communities, and contribute to the growth of the province and nation as a whole,” he said.


Amid the alleged anomalies and corruption in the country, Edduba conveyed that while the people look at it as it is, he reminded, “but we don’t forget that the government is doing its job and the government is doing its responsibility to serve our people.”
