Tabuk City, Kalinga – Showcasing the lighter side of public service, Provincial Vice Governor Dave Q. Odiem praised the musical talents of the region’s fire officers during the Mangili Night for Bureau of Fire Protection – Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR) personnel, held at Davidson’s Hotel in Bulanao on January 27, 2026, as he invited guests to join the upcoming Kalinga Day celebration.

With the Bodong Festival just around the corner, Odiem called on the BFP to ensure that the month-long celebrations remain safe, orderly, and enjoyable for all. In his message before regional stakeholders and BFP personnel, the vice governor lauded the fire officers not only for their dedication to duty but also for their remarkable talents beyond emergency response.

“Naglalaing nga agkanta dagitoy fire officers tayo,” he said, adding in jest that Kalinga’s provincial officials are no less enthusiastic about performing, turning the moment into a lively invitation for stakeholders to join the upcoming celebrations.

He revealed that a band composed of local leaders — including Governor James S. Edduba, Board Member Chris Donaal, Tanudan Mayor Jaedhick Dagadag, and Lubuagan Mayor James Tagaotao — has been formed and is set to perform during the Kalinga Day celebration on February 12.

“Ammo yo, haan met nga agpaabak dagiti opisyales ti province of Kalinga. Adda ti band nga nabuo — ni Apo Governor, ni BM Donaal, Mayor Dagadag, Mayor Joel Tagaotao. Ket nu kayat yo nga denggen — inton February 12 ket idiay ag-perform kami, isu nga imbitaran mi dakayo inton umay nga Kalinga Day. Idiay yo mangdengngeg ti golden voice dagitoy, isunga umay kayo,” he lightheartedly said.

The legislator then formally invited the BFP-CAR family and regional stakeholders to attend Kalinga Day, promising a celebration filled with music, unity, and cultural pride.

Beyond the festivities, the vice governor emphasized the strong partnership between the provincial government and the BFP, recognizing the bureau’s crucial role in ensuring public safety, particularly during large gatherings and cultural events.

“These responsibilities are not just duties; they are lifelines that protect the people, the hopes, and the heritage of Kalinga. Together, let us uphold the values of service, protection, and unity, so that Kalinga will always be safe and our cultural heritage safeguarded,” he said.

The Mangili Night served as both a celebration of fellowship and an opportunity to reinforce cooperation among government agencies, highlighting a shared commitment to service, safety, and unity in the Cordillera region.
