AGTATAKAW caught on camera: Brazen thief strikes Tabuk home, escapes with cash and gadgets

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A homeowner in Barangay Dagupan Centro lost cash and valuable gadgets after a thief broke into his residence in the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2026, adding to growing concerns over theft incidents in the province.

The suspect, who was captured on CCTV footage, was seen wearing a cowboy hat, a pink handkerchief covering his face, a jacket, a red shirt, and dark-colored pants. He allegedly entered the property at around 4:30 a.m. and made off with several valuables.

According to one of the victim's workers, the break-in was discovered upon arriving at the house and finding both the gate and the main door open. A subsequent inspection revealed that the homeowner's tablet, cellphone, and wallet containing ₱18,000 in cash were missing.

As of this writing, the suspect has not yet been identified or arrested.

The incident comes amid a growing number of reports and social media posts from residents across Kalinga raising concerns over alleged theft and robbery incidents in different communities. The increasing reports have prompted renewed calls for the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to protect their homes and belongings.

Residents are strongly advised to always lock their gates, doors, and windows, especially during the night and early morning hours. Authorities and concerned citizens also encourage homeowners to install security cameras, improve outdoor lighting, and immediately report suspicious individuals or activities to the police or barangay officials.

According to data from the Police Regional Office–Cordillera (PRO-COR), 70 theft cases were recorded across the region from March 18 to June 10, 2026, making theft the most common index crime among the 171 index crimes documented during the period.

Authorities continue to remind the public that simple security measures and prompt reporting of suspicious activities can help deter criminals and assist law enforcement in solving crimes.
