CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Three men were arrested after police uncovered the alleged illegal diversion of company-owned Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders during an operation in Cauayan City, Isabela, on July 2, leading to the recovery of missing gas tanks and the possible resolution of a series of reported losses.

The suspects were identified by police only through their aliases: "Cholo," 41; "Art," 24; and "Vin," 30.

According to the Cauayan Component City Police Station, the operation was launched after the National Task Force on LPG received information about the alleged illegal diversion of LPG cylinders involving delivery personnel of Republic Gas Corporation (REGASCO). This means the delivery personnel redirected or took the company property away from its intended route without authorization.

Police immediately verified the report after the company informed authorities that several of its LPG cylinders had gone missing in previous days.

During the operation, officers said they caught the three suspects unloading a REGASCO LPG cylinder. Although the tank still contained LPG, its safety seal had already been removed.

Authorities also recovered another empty REGASCO cylinder from the suspects.

Investigators believe the recovered cylinders may be linked to the previously reported missing company-owned LPG tanks.

Police are now determining the total number of cylinders that may have been illegally diverted and whether other individuals were involved in the alleged scheme.

The three suspects are currently under the custody of the Cauayan Component City Police Station for documentation and the filing of qualified theft charges.

Authorities said the successful operation not only led to the arrest of the suspects but also prevented the possible continued loss of company-owned LPG cylinders as the investigation into the alleged diversion scheme continues.
