Isabela, Philippines – Despite his mother’s plea for him not to push through with his assignment in Mindanao, slain police officer PCpl. Kelvin Francisco remained determined, saying he wanted to use the knowledge he had gained over the years to serve his country.

Francisco, a native of Jones, Isabela, was killed after their team was ambushed while on their way to serve an arrest warrant against a suspect facing charges of murder and attempted murder in Lumbak, Buadipuso-Buntong, Lanao del Sur, on May 4.

The 30-year-old Special Action Force (SAF) trooper sustained fatal injuries during the attack, while four other police officers were wounded.

Francisco’s remains arrived at his residence in Barangay Barancuag, Jones, on Thursday evening, May 7, 2026.

In an interview with XFM Santiago, the grieving mother, Virgie Francisco, described her son as a loving child and sibling who had a strong desire to serve his country and fellow Filipinos. She added that Kelvin had long dreamed of becoming a police officer, even when he was still young.

The Special Action Force earlier accorded honors to Francisco’s remains upon their arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City on May 7, 2026.
