Baguio City, Philippines – The City of Pines has officially launched its first-ever moving art gallery inside a fully operational bus on April 15, designed by students on the autism spectrum and marking a groundbreaking fusion of public transportation and community-based art in the city.

Usually seen only in galleries and museums, art in Baguio City is now taking to the streets through its first mobile gallery.

The project, led by Lexswitch Economy Inc.—a Philippine-based company focused on electric mobility solutions—in collaboration with Creative Capital Bridge and Autism Hearts Philippines Baguio, transforms an electric bus into a mobile cultural space. It features Cordillera-inspired artworks created by students on the autism spectrum, with support from local artists.

The initiative not only promotes local art but also provides a platform for artists on the autism spectrum to showcase their creativity to a wider audience. Inside and outside the bus, vibrant colors and patterns reflect the rich culture of the region, offering passengers an immersive experience while traveling.

According to Lexswitch Economy Inc. Corporate Secretary Hezekiah Alis, in an interview with local media, the electric bus serves both as transportation and a moving gallery. It may also offer free rides during city activities while functioning as a platform for local artists.

“…this is electric. On top of being a moving canvas, it can serve as community transportation—it can provide free rides during activities or outreach programs within the city. It can also function as a gallery or museum and a platform for local artists,” he said.

With plans to expand the concept, more art gallery buses may soon travel across Baguio, bringing creativity closer to the public and reinforcing the city’s identity as a hub for arts and culture.
