Baguio City, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin Magalong through an advisory on Friday, February 27, 2021 said border restriction for non-APOR LISTT (La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay) residents shall be extended next month.

Temporary restriction of non-essential movement of people to and fro Baguio City from abovementioned areas started on February 1-15, 2021 following the rise of Covid-19 cases in the city. Extension of said measure until the end of February was again decided during a BLISTT governing council meeting on February 17.

LISTT residents during these times were allowed to use medical clearance issued from February 1 in entering the city until February 28.

Magalong, in a statement, said the decision was made as the city government strives for a balance between citizen’s economic and psychological welfare activities, adding that, this serves as a measure in containing the virus while vaccine’s arrival is underway.

He also said that instruction was already given to checkpoint personnel to give leeway for non-APOR travelers to secure medical certificates or medical clearances required for their travel.

“APORs who are entering Baguio for purposes of work, business, or official functions will be required to present documentary proof of employment or industry only, which may be in the form of employment IDs, Certificate of Employment, business permit,” he added.

Previous guidelines such as the unhampered passage of all cargo for essential and non-essential goods, logistics and delivery services, and utilities for water, electricity, IT, telecommunications, fuel, and waste management shall be implemented. This is to ensure that economic activities within BLISTT areas will be sustained. There shall also be passage of individuals with confirmed medical appointments or medical emergencies.

“With these measures, and the continued support of our BLISTT community, we hope to achieve a better and healthier Baguio,” Magalong said.
