Baguio City heightens efforts against bullying and gangsterism

Baguio City, Philippines – After recording two new cases of bullying, Baguio City vowed to heighten its campaign against bullying and gangsterism.

On May 26, 2022, a group of minors approached a 14-year-old student along Lake Drive, Burnham Park to bully the victim. The females in the group pulled the victim’s hair and ran towards Solibao Restaurant.

The chief of Community Affairs Unit, PLTCOL Judy Jasmin Palicos, narrates this thru People's Television Network.

On June 01, another student of the same age was pulled by a female suspect, also at Lake Drive.

“Si victim natin, parang nakursunadahan siya tapos siyempre natakot rin. Yung father niya, nagwo-work sa boating area, tumakbo siya doon then nagsumbong sila dito sa kapulisan,” relayed Chief of Tourist Police Unit, PMAJ Jeffrey Salvador.

The identities and other information of those involved have been withheld.

Mayor Magalong orders investigation

The incidents, labeled as bullying, led City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to order an investigation.

Magalong directed the City Police Director, PCOL Glenn Lonogan, to have the culprit be charged appropriately.

“Youngsters were involved…I want this treated with utmost priority," stressed the mayor.

Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) is working with Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) to identify those behind the bullying incidents.
