Baguio E-lions dominate Taekwondo Poomsae competition in CARAA Meet 2024


Luna, Apayao – Baguio E-lions proved anew their athletic prowess in the Taekwondo Poomsae competition as they amassed 18 gold and two silver in said event held at the Cabatacan Gym in Pudtol during the first day of the 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet.


This impressive medal haul resulted in them being declared the champion in said event.


The team, during last year’s CARAA competition, has also dominated the same event. Their victory did not stop at the CARAA Meet as they earned six gold in various categories in the 63rd Palarong Pambansa Poomsae competition held in Marikina City on same year.

Next in rank this 2024 are the Benguet Stingers which secured 2 gold and 4 bronze followed by Apayao Eagles with 1 gold and 4 bronze.


Abra Stallions, in the meantime, won 5 silver followed by the Tabuk City Brewers with 9 bronze, Kalinga Bulls with 5 bronze and Mt. Province with 1 bronze.


In determining the winners, 5 Poomsae experts followed a rigorous process. Basis of scoring is the first and final performance of players.


Meanwhile, as of 6 a.m. this April 17, Baguio E-lions has still so far collected the greatest number of medals with 54 golds, 32 silvers, and 8 bronzes.


Coming second is Benguet with 8-17-8, followed by Apayao with 4-8-17; Abra with 3-6-6 and Kalinga with 2-5-13.


CARAA Meet, the region’s largest sporting event is expected to conclude this Friday, April 19.
