Baguio street violence: Two men beaten-up after trying to stop argument

Baguio City, Philippines - An attempt to calm a heated argument turned into an attack, leaving two men injured in Lower Magsaysay, Baguio City, early Monday morning, August 18, 2025.

The city police said the first victim saw a man and a woman arguing outside a bar in the area at around 3 a.m. of Monday. The victim approached the pair to supposedly prevent the dispute from escalating, but the man began punching him.

The second victim rushed to help the man being hit, but was also beaten up. Several individuals from nearby also came, attacking the victims.

An uploaded video of the incident shows the suspects ganging up on the two victims on the street.

The suspects were arrested shortly after the brawl. The police said the victims intended to file a complaint for physical injuries against those who attacked them.

Authorities clarified the victims and suspects are strangers to each other. To prevent such violence, the city police are heightening patrols and enforcing local measures, especially during curfew hours.
