Balbalan, Kalinga – Balbalan town in Kalinga was recognized on Tuesday, Oct. 17, for the worthwhile blood donation efforts of the local government unit and the community.
People of Balbalan have been voluntarily donating blood for the sake of saving the lives of others.
During the 13th annual Northern Blood Services Zone’s Sandugo awarding held in Tuguegarao City, Mayor Almar Malannag was conferred an accolade in recognition of their support and commitment to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of the Department of Health through regular community blood donations.
The town obtained a minimum of 60 blood units in each of at least four bloodletting activities from Jan. 01, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2021.
Further, Dr. Ester Roselle D. Calma was awarded for her invaluable support and dedication in institutionalizing and maintaining regular voluntary blood donation activities in the municipality in her capacity as Municipal Health Officer.
“We are immensely grateful to have been recognized by the Blood Services awarding body and also to all our regular blood donors during our bloodletting donation drives,” expressed Malannag through social media.
Balbalan was previously commended by the province for being one of the two LGUs that have been in regular bloodletting activities which resulted in their sufficient stock of blood.
