Balbalan, Kalinga – The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) of Balbalan has kept its strong stance against criminality, illegal drugs, and insurgency, through effective collaboration, leading them to be cited ‘High Performing’ for calendar year 2023.

Earlier this month, the Department of Interior and Local Government Cordillera released the results of the 2023 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit, naming Balbalan as one of the High Performing MPOCs in the region.

The audit used 85% functionality and 15% development indicators to assess these POCs which are composed of the LGU, the law enforcement agencies, and the communities.

When asked about the key to maintaining peace and order in Balbalan, Mayor Almar Malannag said it is the work of the barangays that plays a huge role in keeping the municipality orderly.

“Iti barangay iti importante talaga, isu nga kasapulan full support iti LGU kadakuada. Ta nu haan mo suportaran iti barangay gamin, kasanu da nga magampanan nga ustu iti trabaho da. Isu nga masapul nga diay barangay iti suportaran, ta da isuda iti mismo nga adda idiay ground,” he said.

With more citations keep coming to Balbalan, Mayor Malannag conveyed it is not the award they are after to, but rather it is the manifestations that Balbalan is not being left behind and that the people are working and collaborating with the LGU.

“Haan nga dayta lang achievement iti kayat mi ditoy Balbalan. Kayat mi ipakita nga iti Balbalan, kaya da nga maala dayta nga award through kadakuada met laeng,” he stressed.
