Balbalan, Kalinga – No one is exempted in the reinforcement of traffic laws in Balbalan, not even the Local Government Unit employees, as they were the first ones who tasted the strict implementation of road safety in town.

With the increasing number of individuals, especially the youth, who are using motorcycles in Balbalan, Mayor Almar Malannag ordered for the strengthening and tightening of the implementation of traffic laws particularly the driving without helmet in the municipality in the last week of July.

The mayor believes that government employees should set good examples to the community, and thus he asked the Philippine National Police Balbalan to issue citation tickets to the government employees who ride motorcycles without helmet.

“Before kami nagtiliw kadagitoy u-ubbing ken kadagiti constituents, impatiliw mi ti violators nga empleyado ti LGU. Inuna mi pay nga dinalusan iti LGU tapnu ipakita mi nga sincere iti LGU tayo iti Balbalan nga mangipakat iti linteg, ken datayo nga empleyado iti gobyerno iti mismo nga ag-set iti model,” he said.

After the apprehension of the government personnel who were caught riding motorcycles without helmets, authorities continued the stringent implementation of traffic laws around the municipality.

“Iti helmet ket importante, ta nu adda aksidente ket nu daduma ket maputed iti saka wennu ima adda landuk nga sukat na ket nu mabettak iti ulo awan iti sukat na, isu nga kunak kadakuada importante la unay iti helmet,” the mayor relayed.

As of August 4, 36 individuals were caught violating the policy requiring the wearing of a helmet while riding a motorcycle in Balbalan.
