Blood units collected from LUMIN-AWA blood donation drive stored for yKalinga patients

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Collected blood units from the LUMIN-AWA blood donation drive held alongside Governor James Edduba’s 58th birthday on Monday, February 20 at the Kalinga Astrodome, Capitol Hills, Bulanao are now stored in local laboratories for the use of yKalinga patients.


The blood drive which was described as a successful event produced 170 blood units, says Provincial Blood Program Coordinator Ferdinan Nonog.

The governor himself donated blood with the hope of saving somebody else’s life. Other heads and employees under the umbrella of the provincial unit also participated and gave blood to those in need.


Nonog acknowledged all the donors, including the partner agencies “for making this LUMIN-AWA blood donation drive a very successful one.”


“We also thank our Lumin-awa governor for having this event, truly many will benefit from this blood donation drive. Lumin-awa Kalinga,” the provincial blood program coordinator added.

According to the Provincial Information Office, the blood units are stored at the blood station facilities of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital Laboratory, City Health Laboratory, and Philippine Red Cross - Kalinga Chapter.


The program is a joint endeavor of the Kalinga PLGU, Department of Health, Occupational Health and Safety Center, Kalinga Provincial Hospital, Kalinga District Hospitals, PRC, CHO, and uniformed personnel, among others.
