Tabuk City, Kalinga – Amid various reports of burglary and theft incidents in Tabuk City recently, now, more than ever, is the best time to take care of the installed CCTV cameras in public spaces, said Dagupan Centro Punong Barangay George Esteras.

Esteras made an appeal to the public after a number of CCTVs that the barangay LGU installed in its area of jurisdiction were damaged by some people.

Esteras relayed to GURU Press Cordillera that they are currently conducting a general repair of all CCTV units in Dagupan Centro, and that they are also to install units at areas considered blind spots to make sure they can cover the monitoring of more places and reduce the number of unsolved theft cases if not to prevent the increase of burglary cases.

The punong barangay, during the interview, emphasized that taking care of these CCTV cameras is a shared responsibility, and that the public cannot expect the tanods to guard their facilities, shops or buildings 24/7 as they are only being paid P30 a day.

“Agkaykaysa tayo kuma nga mangaywan, haan tayo dadaelen. Tumulong tayo kuma nga mang-safeguard kadagita CCTV. Haan tayo nga puli-puligusen dagita cameras,” he appealed.

Esteras further stressed that these CCTV cameras are a great help to the peace and order in the city, citing that the information stored provides lead and evidence in police investigations.

“Dagiti agim-imbistigar nga pulis ket ditoy da agal-ala iti kasla lead da,” he said.
