Conner Mayor Atty. Jorico F. Bayaua welcomed the establishment of the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Health Sector (BUCAS) at Conner District Hospital (CDH) on Tuesday, April 2.

He expressed his support during a recent visit from CDH chief Dr. Nelson O. Rigor, who formally informed him about the creation of the new health facility. This development coincided with the visit of DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on April 4, 2024.

According to the Conner Public Information Office, the facility will be housed in the former COVID-19 isolation building of the LGU located in Mabubua, Calafug. BUCAS aims to address the public's ambulatory medical and surgical care needs by providing Outpatient Consultations, Laboratory Tests, Minor Surgeries, and Emergency Care.

The establishment of BUCAS aligns with the government's objective of making healthcare more accessible to the people, thereby strengthening the country's Universal Health Care system. The Department of Health (DOH) views this initiative as a significant step towards ensuring access to quality healthcare for all Filipinos.

In a statement, Mayor Bayaua emphasized that "the BUCAS program of the DOH is one of the priority projects of PBBM in addressing health issues, which Conner has readily embraced with the assistance of our beloved Governor Elias Bulut Jr., and Congresswoman Eleonor Bulut-Begtang."

He also noted that the facility will cater to clients from neighboring municipalities in the provinces of Cagayan, Kalinga, and Abra, similar to the existing Malasakit Center of Sen. Bong Go at CDH.
