Apayao, Philippines - BM Kyle Mariah Chelsea Bulut-Cunan, daughter of Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. and niece of Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, has been elected into office as Apayao’s first-ever female Vice Governor.

Bulut-Cunan ran unopposed and got 56,046 votes from the 83,441 electorate across the province.

In her recent Facebook post, the Vice Gov elect expressed thanks to all yApayaos who showed her support as evident by the number of vote casts, underlining she is now ready to serve the people.

“To the 56,046 votes that made me officially the Vice Governor of Apayao…agyamanak unay. Real work begins now, and I am ready to serve,’’ the statement reads.

‘’This victory is not just mine, it’s ours,’’ she added.

As a current member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, she has been known for demonstrating impactful leadership that centered on youth development, IP and Entrepreneur empowerment, as well as chaired, institutionalized initiatives that brought reforms in the areas of public health, education, tourism, women’s rights, among others.

Even prior to serving the people as a politician, Bulut-Cunan was grounded in genuine and quality public service as a businesswoman, reservist in the AFP, and community organizer.

Some of her significant projects and programs to help yApayaos include the ‘Rebuild Hope for Apayao’ - a post-disaster program that provides aid to calamity-affected residents, the Apayao Outstanding Youth (APOY) Search, which recognizes youth and their achievements, and donation drives.

Further, some of Bulut-Cunan’s authored ordinances previously during her term as PCL President from 2019 to 2022 comprised the Indigenous Peoples’ month, Nutrition ordinance, Linggo ng Kabataan (Calanasan), Climate Change Mitigation (Calanasan), and Bagsakan Center/Trading Post Ordinance (Calanasan).

Now that she stepped into another level of public service, she affirmed commitment to continue her family’s legacy of leadership, innovation, and governance that goes beyond politics.
