Cagayan, Philippines – A case of sexual harassment involving a police officer in the Province of Cagayan is now being investigated by the authorities, the Police Regional Office 2 said.

Although no details have been revealed about the incident, the PRO2, in a statement on October 9, informed they received a sexual harassment complaint involving a police official of one of the police stations in Cagayan.

As authorities probe the allegations, the PRO2 assured the public that the investigation is being conducted fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with existing laws. They likewise asked the public to help provide any information that will aid in the ongoing investigation.

The Cagayan Valley police said they condemn any forms of abuse and anomalies, asserting that police stations should be a safe space for everyone and a place that protect the rights, dignity, and security of the people.

This is not the first time a police officer was dragged into a sexual harassment case in the country – among the latest cases include the arrest of a police major in July for allegedly taking advantage of a male PNPA cadet and the charging of two police officers for sexually assaulting their colleague in Marikina in August.
