Luna, Apayao – The Province of Apayao has once again outdone itself in the hosting of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet with much excitement and grand opening.

On April 15, the Apayao Sports Complex in Payanan, Luna was filled with colors after thousands of student-athletes together with their coaches, trainers, and the officiating officials convened for the opening of the 2024 CARAA meet.

The Province of Apayao led by Governor Elias Bulut Jr. welcomed the different delegates representing their respective provinces and cities with a grand opening program graced by the keynote speaker, Undersecretary for Field Operations of the Department of Education, Atty. Revsee Escobedo.

The student-players were also given a treat with the presence of two seasoned-athletes in the country, Carl Tamayo of the Gilas Pilipinas – Forward and Mika Reyes, PLDT High Speed Hitters – Middle Blocker.

To further fuel the sportsmanship spirt among the participants, performances like motivational dance, Olympic dance, and unified mass demonstration were showcased along with the CARAA Meet 2024 theme song entitled ‘Tara Cordillera, Maglaro at Magkaisa’.

The kick-off activity was wrapped up with a spectacular fireworks display, signaling the official start of the games. Before the night ended, the Provincial Local Government of Apayao hosted a dinner and entertainment show for the visitors and participants.

Ensuring the participants will take home a splendid experience with them after April 19, the PLGU Apayao has earlier allotted P10 million funding to cover the 2024 CARAA meet, their 3rd time hosting the event.
