Church in Rizal, Kalinga to be provided aid once assessment is done - Kalinga SP

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga, headed by Vice-Governor Dave Odiem, have pledged to provide support for the repair of the fence of St. Michael Parish Church in Rizal, destroyed by a recent typhoon.  

Parish Secretary Clarito Z. Tamayo raised the church’s concern during the regular session of the SP members this August 12 at the Legislative Building in Bulanao, Tabuk City, appealing to the SP members to help fund the repair of the fence for the safety of the parishioners and the building.  

Responding to the concern, Vice-Governor Odiem urged the provincial board members to contribute in any way they could.  

In response to the vice governor’s call, Board member Glenn Julius Amla said he will provide three truckloads of sand, while BM Chester Alunday committed to delivering 10 bags of cement. 

Board Members Alfredo Dangani and Camillo Lamawin Jr., meantime, suggested itemizing or conducting an assessment first of the full cost of the repair so that each will decide what or how much to contribute. 

“It would be better to itemize or evaluate the total cost nga umuna tapno bawat board member can decide what to contribute,” said Dangani, to which Tamayo responded positively.  

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Tamayo said that the estimated cost for the repair is around P133,000. He explained that it's not the full fund needed, but enough to augment the church’s existing resources.    

“The fence was destroyed due to the typhoon, and the repair is worth P133,000. It’s not actually the whole budget; it’s like to augment,” he said.  

Odiem assured that the SP will help once the evaluation is done, saying, ” Tumulong tayo. Ma-evaluate pay nga umuna tapno ti kasta maawamwan nu manu nga talaga ti magasatos diay panakaurnos na. Kas nakita yo met nga addan ti naibaga nga various forms of aid tattay. Diay maysa agited ti darat, diay maysa mabalin ket semento.”
