Tabuk City, Kalinga - Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang is appealing for the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to strengthen collaboration to finish on time the on-going construction of school buildings in the province.

In an interview with the Congressman, he said that he intends to monitor the progress of the construction of said school buildings to ensure the programs are being carried out efficiently, since these infrastructures he said are vital to ensure quality education for the province’s future generations.

Further, the congressman clarified that the projects if not completed successfully on time, the province will have difficulties seeking for additional budget for the next fiscal year.

“Adda gamin dagiyay DepEd buildings that are being implemented by DepEd and there are some buildings that are being implemented by DPWH. One particular issue is, if we fail on the implementation of such school buildings, nu ma-late tayo, natural dagiyay budget for the next coming year ket maapektaran,” Mangaoang said.

Mangaoang then urged the implementing agencies to finish the construction saying “Adda lang gamin dagiyay budget for 2020 a dapat a mapalpas ending 2021, that means nu diyay 2020 budget, nu haan da a ma-accomplish inggana 2021, awanen diyay a pondo,” he explained.

During the DepEd and DPWH first quarter coordination meeting where the Congressman presided, he asked for the concerned agencies to work out their issues and concerns to finish the implementation of all school building projects in the province.

Mangaoang then required both DepEd and DPWH to submit monthly update of their performance with their on-going construction of school buildings for him to report to the respective stakeholders of the municipalities and the city of the province.

On the other hand, he lauded the DepEd and DPWH for being able to complete some buildings despite the risks and limitations brought about by the CoViD-19 pandemic.

Meantime, concerning the PhP15 million allotments from DepEd national office, the itemized list of programs for the year 2021 has yet to be downloaded to the province.

Present during the meeting were Kalinga Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Amador Garcia, Tabuk Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Irene Angway, Engr. Ruby Uyam of Lower Kalinga Engineering District, Engr. Teddy Owek of Upper Kalinga engineering district, and Engr. Anabelle Pangan of DepEd Central Office Engineering Department.
