Construction driver in Balbalan found dead as truck fell into a 150-m ravine

Balbalan, Kalinga—A 59-year-old construction driver from Balbalasang was found dead Wednesday evening, July 7 at Sesec-an, Talalang, Balbalan, hours after the truck he was driving fell in a ravine.


Balbalan Police Chief, Police Captain Quendolyn Adangi said that based on their initial investigation, the victim was driving a 6-wheeler truck around 10 o’clock in the morning. However, upon reaching Sesec-an, Talalang, it fell into a 150-meter ravine.

It is believed that no one saw the incident, and given the depth of the ravine, it took around 8 hours before the body was discovered and reported. By the time it was found, the rescuers and responders declared it lifeless.


“Haan a mapansin gamin isu kasdiay a nabayag siguro a nai-report. Awan makapansin ta nauneg unay tapos haan makita isunga kasdiay iti kabayag na a naireport siguro,” she said.


The body of the driver was brought home to his family in Balbalasang.


Moreover, investigators from the Balbalan Municipal Police Station are currently conducting their follow-up investigation on the case.
