Pasil, Kalinga – Following the groundbreaking ceremony held earlier this February 2, the construction of the P50 million worth Multipurpose Evacuation Center in Chuyugon, Dangtalan, Pasil now commenced.

The evacuation center was funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) through the initiative of the local government unit of Pasil under the leadership of Mayor Alfredo ‘Chao-ig’ Malannag Jr.

PAGCOR Representative Jun Saclag, in his message, said the project has the largest fund that the agency released for constructions of evacuation centers in the entire region.

How Pasil LGU got the funding

Pasil LGU forwarded their request for funding to PAGCOR in March 2021 through Municipal Resolution No. 2021-29.

The resolution explained the necessity of establishing an evacuation center to protect the growing population of Pasil during weather disturbances and other emergency situations.

They requested for a multipurpose building so it could likewise be used for assembly or meetings, considering the lack of available space in the municipality.

The resolution further stated that the people of Barangay Dangtalan had been appealing for a provision of an evacuation center, but it could not be funded by the local government due to its meager resources.

Realizing the importance of the project to the community, PAGCOR CEO Andrea Domingo, who is also the Chairman of Friends of Rody Duterte (FORD), transmitted the request to the Office of the President.

“Kuna ni Ma’am Andrea nga pinondoan a dagus ni Presidente daytoy gapu ta makita na nga naaw-awardan pay ti Pasil kanayun, dakkel ti contribution na iti nasyon,” relayed Saclag, the Co-chairman of FORD.

In addition, Saclag lauded the effort, support and great partnership of the incumbent officials in the municipality and in the province such that the project was made possible.

“Daytoy ket gapu iti gaget ken kina-supportive dagitoy opisyales ti Pasil ken Kalinga kas kuna ni Ma’am Andrea, good luck ket sapay kuma ta papintasen tayo daytoy nga proyekto,” he said.

Construction Reminder

The PAGCOR representative cautioned that implementation of all construction works should be done by the main contractor assigned. This, he added, is to avoid the sub-contractors from taking away the mobilization costs without finishing their work.

Pasil experienced the incident in one of the road projects implemented in Lower Pasil under Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) which PAGCOR wants to avoid.

Among the officials who graced the event along with the PAGCOR Representative are Regie Wacas representing Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, Governor Ferdinand Tubban, Mayor Alfredo ‘Chao-ig’ Malannag Jr., Vice-Mayor Theodoro Mosing, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and other LGU officials.
