Benguet, Phiippines – Six vehicles amounting to P10, 620, 000 were turned over to the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center (BAPTC) on Monday, April 5, 2021.

According to reports from the Office of the Governor, the Department of Agriculture (DA) transferred said fund to the Provincial Local Government through a memorandum of agreement, of which four trucks and two service vehicles were procured.

The three trucks and a service vehicle will be deployed at the trading center’s Interim Project Management Office (IPMO) for marketing. The DA-RFO-CAR will use one service vehicle for their monitoring and coordination activities, while the other hauling truck will be utilized by the Provincial Government for the promotion of the trading center as a member of its Project Steering Board (PSB).

In a statement during the turn-over ceremony, Department of Agriculture- Cordillera Regional Director for Operations Danilo Daguio said the provision of the transport vehicles is timely and relevant since this will address the logistical needs of the trading center which became a problem during the pandemic

“This will provide farmer members easy access to transport facilities to mitigate the dumping of surplus produced,” Daguio said.

Governor Melchor Diclas, on his part, expressed his gratitude to DA for continuously providing support to the province through BAPTC and other programs.

He also encouraged the members of the PSB to continue working together for the development of the trading center and for them to achieve its goal, to make the BAPTC a world class facility.

Present during the ceremony were members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Vice Governor Johnny Waguis, PLGU, DA-CAR, and BAPTC employees and representative from Benguet State University.
