“Dapat yung mga project na iimplement, those that can reduce poverty”- Edduba during LCPRAP seminar

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Governor James Edduba highlighted the importance of executing projects that will  benefit the underprivileged residents to reduce poverty rate during the Magna Carta of the Poor (MCP) - Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan (LCPRAP) orientation seminar on Thursday, August 15.

 

Taking place at the MHotel in Appas, Tabuk City, the seminar was organized by the National Anti-poverty Commission (NAPC), led by NAPC Deputy Director General Esnaen Catong.

 

In his talk during the event, Edduba reiterated the pressing need for initiatives that improve the quality of life of the less fortunate residents in the province so that no one will be left behind.

 

“We are talking about poverty…Dapat yong project na iimplement are those can reduce poverty…yong nafefeel ng mga underprivileged “he said.

 

The governor likewise expressed hope that the national government will support the PLGU in all its plans and programs against poverty.

 

“Kailangan talaga ang participation ng pamahalaan sa baba…Even how we work here in the local kung walang suporta wala talagang mangyayari eh…Wsana ganun ang mangyari dito sa ginagawa natin” he added.

 

In connection to this, latest report from the Philippine Statistics Authority revealed that poverty rate among families in Kalinga in 2023 was at 10 percent, a 6 percent decrease compared to the 15.8 percent poverty rate in 2021.

 

It mean that 10 out of 100 yKalinga families were still living in poverty in 2023.
