‘Daytoy “Serbisyong Sigurado at Garantisado” tayo ket kayat ko nga maidanun ti intero nga Kalinga’ - Mayor Sacrament Gumilab

Atty. Sacrament Sapyong Gumilab, as Mayor of Tinglayan, has already gained recognition for his exemplary leadership, and his decision to run for a higher position he said signals his readiness to address the pressing issues facing not just his town but the entire province of Kalinga.

Since his filing of candidacy as a Representative of Kalinga in October this year, the iKalingas have been curious about what motivated him to run for the position.

The 38-year-old mayor finally addressed the question when he attended the fourth edition of the "Know Your Candidates" forum of the Tabuk City Public Information Office on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The forum provided political candidates in Kalinga an opportunity to introduce themselves to the public and give answers to the questions from the citizens.

Gumilab shared his reasons behind his bold move, along with answering different concerns from the media and the public, during the event.

Gumilab’s dedicated public service in Tinglayan

Tinglayan under Gumilab's administration as the mayor of the municipality has undeniably seen development and progress with road networks, farm to market roads, facilities and programs. Gumilab championed the use of indigenous wisdom and traditions for governance like his “Tinglayan Umunnu-unoy” meaning continuous progress and “Pumer-asan” meaning clean for the solid and waste management in his town.

It is also during his term that Tinglayan became a multi-awarded LGU. This year alone, Tinglayan LGU received six regional awards from the DILG. In 2023, Gumilab is one of the Mayors conferred with the Philippine Public Service Leadership (PPSL) Award. The PPSL Award is a platform for recognizing and honoring outstanding people who have made contributions in the field of public service.

What motivated Gumilab to run as a Representative of Kalinga? 

Gumilab’s term as the Mayor of Tinglayan is coming to an end, but his dedicated political vision has extended beyond the border of the municipality. Gumilab wants to do more, emphasizing need of more transformation and positive changes in all parts of the province. He wants extend his "Serbisyong Sigurado at Garantisado" throughout the province and not just in Tinglayan. 

If he is given the chance, Gumilab said, he will do his best to improve and bring government services to all residents of Kalinga so that no one will be left behind.

“Isu nga kayat ko nga ipangato ti serbisyok tapno ipalawak ti serbisyok iti probinsiya ti Kalinga.Tapno haan lang nga agpatingga diay Tinglayan... Tarigagay tayo iti mangipaay iti sigurado ken garantisado nga serbisyo nga marikna ken makita iti amin nga kakailyan tapno kasta awan ti maiyawawan,” he added. 

With his tested track of leadership, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab believes that he can bring further progress to the province, ensuring a better and brighter future for all iKalingas.
