Baguio City, Philippines – Two lives were cut short in separate road accidents involving motorcycles and passenger buses in Baguio City on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

According to a report from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) obtained by local media outlets, the first incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. along Marcos Highway in Imelda Marcos Village.

Police investigation revealed that a bus allegedly swerved back into its lane to avoid colliding with an oncoming truck after attempting to overtake. In the process, the bus struck a motorcycle traveling behind it.

The 33-year-old rider was trapped underneath the bus and sustained severe injuries. Responding medical personnel rushed the victim to a nearby hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Hours later, another motorcycle rider was killed in an accident along Magsaysay Avenue. The 28-year-old victim, reportedly from Mt. Province, was traveling toward the city’s commercial center when the incident occurred.

Investigators said the motorcycle ran over a hole in the road, causing the rider to lose balance and fall onto the pavement. At the time, a bus driven by a 39-year-old man, also a resident of Mt. Province, was traveling behind the motorcycle.

The driver told police he was unable to stop the bus in time, resulting in the victim being run over. The rider died due to severe injuries and heavy blood loss.

Police withheld the identities of the victims to protect the privacy of their families.

As of this writing, authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents.
