Decomposing fetus found by farmer in Cauayan creek

Isabela, Philippines – A decomposing fetus was found thrown along Barangay San Antonio, Cauayan City, Isabela on Tuesday, June 24.

Emiliano Visitacion, a farmer, said he was then resting when he noticed a fetus floating in a creek at Sitio Tabbaruk.

The fetus was in an advanced stage of decomposition when found.

Authorities added the fetus is female and is around one to two months old.

Based on its state, the newborn might have been at the creek for more than two days before being discovered.

As the investigation begins, local authorities are calling on those with information related to the case to come forward.

Barangay health workers in San Antonio and nearby villages have started monitoring all those who have recently given birth, including pregnant women, to determine the possible mother of the fetus found.

Residents are still in shock since such an occurrence is uncommon in their area.
