Pasil, Kalinga - Pasil Mayor Alfredo Malannag Jr. encouraged the public to pursue the dream of the former leaders to embrace development for the progress of the municipality, not just for the present but for the upcoming generation.

The municipality of Pasil experienced problems relating to its residents disallowing road constructions or widening in the part fronting or passing their properties, but lately has seen various construction projects aimed at providing safer, better and faster mobility.

Malannag made the remark during Pasil’s celebration of its 55th Founding Anniversary alongside with the groundbreaking ceremony of the P6.4 million worth Bureau of Fire Protection Station in Sitio Tukol on June 18, 2021.

Opening of a horse trail connecting Limoomg and Guina-ang in 1968

Malannag, in yPasil dialect, expressed gratitude to former leaders who commenced the development. Among them was the first mayor of Pasil elected in 1968, Wayne Gamongan, who, according to Mallanag, opened the horse trail from Limood to Guina-ang – an epitome of development in its embryonic stage.

“Our leaders dream of roads and development and here we are, the next generation, iparit tayo ti kayat da? Ti immuna nga Mayor ti Pasil isu ti inaramid na babaen ti pananglukat na ti horse trail from Limood to Guina-ang. That is the start of development. Let us convince others to embrace development tapno ag-progreso ta-u,” the mayor said.

The incumbent mayor advised the community to be inspired with such aspirations that they may realize what significant contribution they can make. He as well highlighted that the product of hard work of this generation will benefit the next.

Challenge to leaders

Malannag also posed a challenge to the current leaders of the municipality to reflect with the oath they previously made.

“Kiningwa ta-u ngata nan ustu? Do we have the integrity?” inquired by the Pasil mayor, adding that it is important for leaders to do their work and to help one another for a better Pasil.

The mayor disclosed that “hopefully, next month will be the groundbreaking of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Office at Cagaluan, and the evacuation center in Puapo.”

Malannag likewise lauded the continued assistance and support provided by Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, Vice-Mayor Theodoro Mosing, the Sangguniang Bayan, and other stakeholders who made the events possible.
