Tabuk City, Kalinga – LTO-Kalinga said they can issue a 10-year driver's license to drivers in Kalinga, but only to those with zero traffic violations in the last five years.

Prior to the renewal, drivers may now apply for the said license at the Land Transportation Office (LTO). This is following the order issued for the national issuance of driver’s licenses valid for 10 years.

LTO-Kalinga, headed by Jenelyn Angog, started the issuance of said license on December 9, 2021.

Who are qualified for driver’s license valid for 10 years?

Republic Act 10930, which amended Land Transportation and Traffic Code, states that only drivers who did not commit any traffic laws, rules, and regulations violations are entitled to the 10-year valid license.

Drivers with violations logged, on the other hand, will have the standard five-year driver’s license.

Requirements to get 10-year validity Driver’s License for those renewing

As the agency’s way of improving the quality of driver education for the safety of the public, all drivers who are to renew their licenses are required to pass the Comprehensive Driver's Education (CDE) which is composed of a refresher seminar and an examination.

These are designed to ensure that only motorists with sufficient skills and are aware of road safety and proper road courtesy will be able to renew their licenses. Those who will fail will be required to retake the exam.

The CDE may be accessed for free at LTMS Portal via portal.lto.gov.ph. Drivers with no account at the LTMS Portal need to register first.

A CDE certificate will then be sent via email after passing the examination. This is to be presented at the LTO-Kalinga Office.

The certificate is not required for drivers applying for a new license.
