DOLE hires 3.6K displaced workers in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Around 3,600 marginalized workers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (CoViD-19) pandemic were identified to benefit from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of Department of Labor Employment (DOLE) in Kalinga.


DOLE-Kalinga Chief Dr. Avelina Manganip conveyed that a total of PhP20 million fund was allocated for the implementation of the TUPAD program in the province sourced out from Regular Fund of the DOLE for 2021. The fund includes the provision of personal protective equipment, group micro-insurance, and wage of the beneficiaries.

Manganip stressed that TUPAD program is the agency’s contribution to the government’s agenda of poverty reduction and inclusive development through massive job generation and substantial poverty reduction for those living below the poverty line, the vulnerable, and marginalized.

Among the beneficiaries are 300 individuals from each municipality, 800 from the city of Tabuk, and 700 for the provincial government.


The program covers the workers in the informal sector particularly the self-employed with elementary occupations and unpaid family workers who are affected by the pandemic.


Meantime, DOLE-Kalinga is set to orient the TUPAD program beneficiaries of the remaining municipality, which is Pasil.
