DRRMC Warehouse and Logistics Hub in CAR to be erected in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council warehouse and logistics hub shall be erected in the Capitol Compound, Tabuk City, Kalinga Province which shall be used as a stockpile for food aid and other basic necessities to assist people affected by disasters.

Currently, all supplies distributed in various areas in the region come from Baguio City. This makes the travel longer in some areas farther from the chartered city.

With a warehouse and logistics hub in Kalinga, aid, especially food packs and other important items and equipment needed during disasters, can be transported faster in Apayao, parts of Ifugao, and Mt. Province.

In a letter of Regional Director Albert Mogol to Kalinga Governor Ferdinand Tubban, he said that the Groundbreaking ceremony of the Cordillera DRRMC Warehouse and Logistics Hub on August 27, 2021, shall push through.

The occasion will be graced by the NDRRMC dignitaries, the Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon, the Congressman of the lone district of Kalinga, the Regional Executives of the CDRRMC, as well as, heads of the national agencies operating in the province of Kalinga.

Tubban, in an interview, said that this initiative of RD Mogol can save more lives and minimize after-disaster problems, considering the time saved in sending help to the needy.

Transport shall be reduced at least 6-8 hours for many, according to Tubban, adding that while this is a privilege given to Kalinga, it also comes with responsibility. Thus, there is a need to work harder and train more people.

“Agyaman tayo ta datayo ti napili nga lugar daytoy nga pakakabilan ti regional warehouse and logistics hub ti DRRMC. Daytoy ket mangipakita met lang nga kaya tayo nga i-handle ti kakastoy nga responsibilidad, isunga we have to work harder and train more to upgrade our services,” said Tubban.

The governor shall be joining the occasion and welcome the NDRRMC dignitaries and other officials who shall be present during the groundbreaking on Friday this week.
