DSWD’s last day of educational assistance distribution benefits 7,736 students in CAR

Baguio City, Philippines – A total of 7,736 students in the Cordillera benefited on the last day of the distribution of the educational assistance, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.


The distribution which happened simultaneously in the provinces of Cordillera on Saturday, September 24 resulted in the provision of a total of P19.36 million to qualified recipients.


Mt. Province recorded the highest number of recipients, with 1,746 beneficiaries given a total of P4,071,000 educational grant. Abra ranked second with beneficiaries of 1,303 getting p3,434,000.


For other provinces, Apayao has 1,105 beneficiaries - P2,625,000, Benguet with 1,020 beneficiaries (P2,273,000), Kalinga with 1,000 recipients (P2,648,000), and Ifugao with 888 beneficiaries, while the Regional Field Office in Baguio aided 674 students with P1,711,000.

Said assistance of DSWD provides P1,000 cash aid for elementary students, P2,000 for high school students, P3,000 for senior high school students, and P4,000 for college students or vocational courses.


As earlier told by the agency, the eligible ones for the AICS (Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation) program are breadwinners, working students, orphans, abandoned, orphans living with relatives, children of single parents or disturbed abroad Filipino workers, victims of abuse or disaster, or children of persons who are HIV-positive.
